Next Steps: Growing as a Disciple of Jesus

Why should Christians focus on spiritual growth? We must understand that the opposite of growth isn’t homeostasis , it’s decay. To not intentionally grow is to intentionally decay. We’re all being formed into something, either a devoted disciple of Jesus or a devoted disciple of the world.

Key Takeaways:

#1: Spiritual growth must be a priority.

In life, we either become more like Jesus or more like the world. We

must choose who we want to be discipled by and who we want to

become.

#2: We must consider ourselves nothing and consider Christ

everything.

Pride is a deadly foe while humility is a powerful friend. We must

seek to exalt Jesus over everything else. He must be our all in all.

#3: We must press on everyday.

Conformity to Christ is a lifelong process that is only completed

when we arrive at eternity’s shore. We must keep running the race.

5 Day Bible Reading Plan:

Day 1: Philippians 3:1-7

Day 2: Philippians 3:8-11

Day 3: Philippians 3:12-14

Day 4: 2 Peter 3:17-18

Day 5: Colossians 1:15-23

Personal Reflection Questions:

#1: How would I describe my current attitude toward spiritual

growth?

#2: Do I truly believe that Jesus is everything to me and worthy of all

my adoration?

#3: What steps can I take to press on and pursue a deeper life with

Jesus?

Pastor’s Note: One of the best ways to grow as a disciple of Jesus is

to get involved in a small group. If you’re ready to get serious about

spiritual growth, I highly encourage you to join a small group.
