Faith and Politics: A Call to Submit and Subvert

Join us for week two of our Faith and Politics series where we learn how to live as faithful citizens of our earthly kingdoms while proclaiming the way of God's kingdom.

Key Takeaways:

#1: It doesn’t have to feel hopeless.

While the current political system breeds frustration and anger,

there is a better way. Our hope is in Christ alone.

#2: Christ has called us to submit and subvert.

God has established the nations, and we are to submit by being

upstanding citizens even amid evil decisions and unjust actions. In

the same way, we are to subvert the established order by speaking

truth in love and modeling God’s Way by how we live.

#3: We can rest in God’s redemptive plan.

God is the one that is in control and His plan does not hinge upon a

certain party or politician. God’s kingdom will be fully established,

and creation will be made new.

Bible Reading Plan

Day 1: Matthew 22:15-22

Day 2: Jeremiah 29:4-14

Day 3: Daniel 3

Day 4: 1 Peter 2:11-17

Day 5: 1 Thessalonians 4:9-12

Reflection Questions:

1. What is it about our current political climate that I find

exhausting and frustrating? How can I give that to the Lord?

2. Submission and subversion are opposite ideas, which am I

more naturally drawn toward? Why?

3. How can I faithfully practice both submission and subversion

in my political engagement?
