Faith and Politics: A Call to Christ-Centered Living

As we enter into a potentially contentious political season the church must faithfully follow the way of Jesus. Join us for week one of a four week series on faith and politics as we discover what Jesus being Messiah means for our politics.

Key Takeaways:

#1: Idols are deadly.

We often chase after idols without realizing they’re idols. Whenever

we demote Jesus to a secondary position and allow something else

to take a primary place, we have committed idolatry.

#2: Jesus is the Messiah.

Jesus’ Messiahship has dramatic implications that reverberate

throughout the entire cosmos. Messiah isn’t just a title, it’s a

descriptor of who Jesus is and what He has come to do.

#3: We must surrender to Him.

We cannot proclaim that Jesus is the Messiah while also saying,

“Never, Lord!” to the way of Jesus. We must deny ourselves and

surrender fully to the way of Jesus.

5 Day Bible Reading Plan:

Day 1: Matthew 16:15-23

Day 2: Matthew 16:24-27

Day 3: Philippians 3:20-21

Day 4: Matthew 5:43-48

Day 5: Galatians 5:13-26

Personal Reflection Questions:

#1: How do I view and understand Jesus? Is He the Messiah, the Son

of the Living God?

#2: What is the mission of Jesus and how does He accomplish that

mission?

#3: Are there ways in which I’m saying to Jesus, “Never, Lord!” when

His ways are different from mine?

Challenge: Go on a political detox for 4 weeks. Turn off the news,

podcasts, and social media and immerse yourself in the Word.
